There are lots of things I strongly believe in; reading to your children, eating your vegetables, and restoring furniture. I love finding old pieces and breathing new life into them. If you know me well then you know I can take on way too many of these projects. when we moved to San Deigo I started collecting like a magpie and I was so excited about some of my finds. Most of the stuff we ended up selling (including the dining set) but I wanted to share my two favorite projects. We brought the grey dresser home and I can't tell you how much I love it! These pictures are awful, but they are all I have. Here is the dresser before (excuse the mess):
and after:
After:
Don't worry, I'm already taking on way too many projects again.
I guess this is a lesson I will never learn.

Oh Cait, you're so talented. Really. The dresser looks beautiful (I LOVE the grey), and the chairs look fantastic, too. Lovely job.
love love love. so smart what you did with the hardware on that dresser. and the gray - i'm a huge fan.
nice work.
Caitlin, I love the color you chose for the dresser! It is the perfect shade of grey. I cannot believe you scored the entire dining set for $40. What a steal! It turned out so great!
I love that dining room set! You said you sold it?! I wish I could have been the buyer ... the green would match my house perfectly! I am really impressed with your talent in restoring furniture!
You are an inspiration! I'm the complete opposite; I need to take on more projects.
You have a gift!! LOVE the colors you choose!
ohhhh so pretty! i LOVE both. Good job!
Those are great! I have so many projects I always think I will get around to but never do- so I love to see you in action! It's motivating!
You are incredibly talented! Not only with restoring furniture but I love reading your blog because you write things in such a perfect way. I envy your many talents! Love and miss you!
LOVE both of those...
You have great vision.. I just don't have the eye to see something's "potential". Well done and quite impressive.
whoa mama! they really do look great! sometimes when i see people redo furniture it still has a little bit of a worn out look but man, those two pieces look incredible! :)
Caitlin,
Teach me how to do this! It's amazing!
Love,
Amelia
I hope your announcement has something to do with using your talent. Maybe an Etsy shop? I love the dresser. I already started looking on Craigslist for a dresser that I could steal your idea with.
These are so beautiful! Would you ever consider doing a big post with a step-by-step of how to do this? I would love to learn how!
Thanks and have a wonderful day!
Caitlin -- you are friggin' talented girl! YOU NEED TO BE ON HGTV... I watch Clean House and all their shows all the time. I love it. Your little Winston is so cute. I miss you tons and hope we cross sometime soon before the 10 year reunion. Miss ya!
Oh my gosh, I can't get enough of these fab makeovers. What a stunning job you did! LOVE the fabric on those chairs.
I saw a great cane settee at goodwill yesterday, with orange velvet tufted upholstery. I really want to go back for it, paint the cane glossy black, reupholster in something outrageous like magenta...but it's $75, which seems like highway robbery for Goodwill!
Still, your post has me itching to go rescue it!
