reincarnation

There are lots of things I strongly believe in; reading to your children, eating your vegetables, and restoring furniture. I love finding old pieces and breathing new life into them. If you know me well then you know I can take on way too many of these projects. when we moved to San Deigo I started collecting like a magpie and I was so excited about some of my finds. Most of the stuff we ended up selling (including the dining set) but I wanted to share my two favorite projects. We brought the grey dresser home and I can't tell you how much I love it! These pictures are awful, but they are all I have. Here is the dresser before (excuse the mess):
and after:
After:

Don't worry, I'm already taking on way too many projects again.
I guess this is a lesson I will never learn.

Oh Cait, you're so talented. Really. The dresser looks beautiful (I LOVE the grey), and the chairs look fantastic, too. Lovely job.

Caitlin, I love the color you chose for the dresser! It is the perfect shade of grey. I cannot believe you scored the entire dining set for $40. What a steal! It turned out so great!

I love that dining room set! You said you sold it?! I wish I could have been the buyer ... the green would match my house perfectly! I am really impressed with your talent in restoring furniture!

You have great vision.. I just don't have the eye to see something's "potential". Well done and quite impressive.

I hope your announcement has something to do with using your talent. Maybe an Etsy shop? I love the dresser. I already started looking on Craigslist for a dresser that I could steal your idea with.

These are so beautiful! Would you ever consider doing a big post with a step-by-step of how to do this? I would love to learn how!

Thanks and have a wonderful day!

Oh my gosh, I can't get enough of these fab makeovers. What a stunning job you did! LOVE the fabric on those chairs.

I saw a great cane settee at goodwill yesterday, with orange velvet tufted upholstery. I really want to go back for it, paint the cane glossy black, reupholster in something outrageous like magenta...but it's $75, which seems like highway robbery for Goodwill!
Still, your post has me itching to go rescue it!
