on the horizon

Hello people, I am back.

After an insanely busy month and wonderful visit to Utah, I am back at my desk with some time to spare. After spending half the morning scouring the Internet and working out the details of our move this weekend, it occurred to me that I should blog. Blog, what is that? I think I remember that, vaguely.

Anyway, with the move looming large above me, that means the little wheels in my head are whizzing and turning with all sorts of ideas and projects, and materials and ideas- so much so that it is literally making my head spin with excitement. I thought putting a few of those ideas out here might free up some room in that crowded brain of mine, so here are a few things that have been on my mind.....

silhouettes- I bought the materials about a month ago to make these but haven't gotten around to it yet, still this is one of my all time loves and this year these have been big and back in style. I am planning on making my own, but if all else fails, I'll employ this guy to make some for me.

Chalkboard walls- ever since I went to friends house in junior high who had a whole wall painted like a chalkboard I have wanted one of these for my very own. there is a perfect wall in our new kitchen and if I paint it with magnetic chalkboard paint, it can double as a bulletin board, recipe holder, and message center. I can't wait. That one will hopefully get taken care of this weekend.

hooks and more hooks- Tell me are there ever enough places to hang things? I think not, I am the worst about hanging up my bag or coat or anything when I walk in the door, which is why I decided to put plenty of hooks up right by door so they knock me in the face when I enter. And all I'll need is a piece of wood, some paint and a few hooks. Cheap and easy storage.

Maps- hmmm? Still not sure about this one, but we do have french doors in our new apartment leading toward the bedroom and I like this idea instead of curtains for privacy. In our storage unit in Utah, I have a couple of really cool maps framed but unfortunately shipping them would be a nightmare. I have had my eye on a couple of vintage NY subway reproductions and Maps of Manhattan from Kate's paperie that could work here though.

Clean closets- of course we all wish for this one, but now that we will actually have multiple roomy closets, I really want them to be organized beautifully. One of my goals for the new year is to stay organized, I am great at getting organized, just not at keeping things that way.

Once we get settled in the new place, I am sure there will be lots of blogging and excitement to follow.
