I have decided to let loose, come clean and expose my real self. I read a similar expose on some one elses blog and I thought it was so refreshing I am going to give you all a dose of my reality and alter ego.
When I was a little girl my dad made up this character named puppet girl. Basically, puppet girl was exactly like me except she always did was she was told, picked up her toys, went to bed without whining, and played nice with the other kids. Oh yeah, and she never threw tantrums either. Anyway, basically puppet girl was me, but a better more disciplined more obedient me. As we get older, I think we get really good at showing our perfect selves to the world, and the less desirable aspects of our personality get left for our family and close friends to discover. So here it goes, I am going to give you the low-down on real Caitlin and Perfect Caitlin.
Perfect Caitlin always has a clean house.
FACT: Real Caitlin would like that to be true, but it is definitely not. However, my house is always spotless whenever anyone from the outside world sees it, does that count?
Perfect Caitlin only eats nutritious foods, and plenty of fruits and
vegetables
FACT: Real Caitlin does eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, but she also has a weakness for Coca Cola and good french fries. Also, Real Caitlin can not stand Diet Coke
Perfect Caitlin looks perfect and polished every day with freshly washed hair and perfect makeup.
FACT: Real Caitlin tries to get her hair to last two or three days because let's face it, blow drying and straightening is a pain. Oh yeah, and I never take off my eye makeup. It's bad I know but really, no one can tell a difference between day old mascara and eyeliner wears off anyway.
The clothes in Perfect Caitlin's closet are clean and pressed and neatly folded.
FACT: Real Caitlin would love this to be true, and her clothes are always clean, but they stay neatly folded for about 5 minutes! I try, I really do, but they just seem to get really messy really fast!
Perfect Caitlin is a gourmet cook and every dish always comes out right.
FACT: Real Caitlin couldn't bake if her life depended on it, and although she has perfected some dishes, they've developed through trial and error in which Dan was the victim of a couple bad dishes! And he is so sweet he eats them all with a smile, and when I ask for criticism he'll nicely say, "It wasn't bad but it wasn't my favorite."
Perfect Caitlin finishes every project she starts.
FACT: Real Caitlin has drawers full of unfinished projects that didn't hold her attention long enough to get them done. I am really good at buying all the supplies and imaging how I want things to turn out, not so good at following through on some of these projects.
So now you know my secrets, I challenge you to reveal yours!

i really love it--- i don't think I have very many secrets- i feel like I am an open book these days - because I don't have the time and energy to hide the 'real' me. I yell at my kids, my house is messy, and I have a ton of junk drawers and cupboards-- I would like to be a better cook- but love a quick fix meal, it is hard for my to finish books, i don't wash my face at night, sometimes i put clothes in the hamper that aren't even dirty (I get too lazy to hang them up) i have tons of pictures and would love to think i am a good scrap booker - but don't have much to show for it, i was never a very good student, i could go on and on-- this is a good exersize.. thanks caitlin--
It is good to know that not even Caitlin is perfect even though she usually looks it! Makes me feel better! Thanks for the insight!
