the boy who wouldn't grow up

Since Dan and I are both aching for the little one to stay his little self forever, we decided it would be perfect for him to be Peter Pan (the boy who wouldn't grow up) for Halloween. Although he wad less than cooperative for these pictures, he made us laugh. We're off to go check out the neighborhood kids trick or treating and hit a party. Happy Halloween!
When you live in Neverland shoes are not required

This is little Peter's pocket made for him especially by Wendy

Vincent

Van Gogh that is. May I ask who doesn't love Van Gogh? We headed to the MOMA today to check out the special exhibit Vincent Van Gogh and the Colors of the Night. If you are in the New York area it is worth the effort to trek over to the MOMA and brave the crowds. Even Winston liked it. I wrote a thirty five page paper on Van Gogh in college and even I learned some new things at the exhibit. One of the most amazing experiences of my life was going to the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam. If you are up for a heavy but extremely interesting read, I highly suggest reading The Letters of Vincent Van Gogh.

haha

The text of this book made me laugh out loud while the people around me just stared. If you are in the habit of collecting Christmas books, I suggest you check out The Latke who couldn't stop screaming by Lemony Snickett. It is the perfect combination of literary wit and quirky truths.

Little Mr. Winston

Is it just me, or does this kid totally flirt with the camera?

Jonathan Canlas Photography

I've posted about how much I love Jonathan Canlas before, but I had to give him more applause for the family pictures he took for us recently. We felt so privileged to sneak a shoot with him when he was already booked solid for the month of September and traveling all over the country doing what he does best, taking pictures. Not only is he a great photographer but he is great to work with. Dan and I just couldn't stop talking about what a nice guy he is. If you are looking for an AMAZING photographer, you must check him out!!! Thank you Jonathan!

visitors

Grandma and Grandpa are here right now so I'm busy showing them around all my favorite New York City spots. Grandpa carries me down the street everywhere we go so he can show me off to everyone that passes by. I'm showing them all my new tricks like giggly and rolling over. it's pretty great to have two more people around to hug me and smile at. Aunt Margaret even came all the way from Washington to see me. Life is pretty great! More posts to follow soon.

project

My high school friends threw me a little baby shower while I was home visiting. It was so great to see everyone and show the little babe off. They all gave me the sweetest gifts but I have to say the thing that blew everyone away was this chair that Missy made me. She is one crafty girl. I thought this was such a cute idea and would be great for any piece of furniture that had seen better days and could use some freshening up. She found this old school chair at a rummage sale and used modge podge to attach a variety of pictures and words she cut our of magazines and voila! We love it! Thank you Missy!

little feet

One of the things I love most about little babies are their sweet little hands and feet. Which means as a natural by product, little shoes for little feet are also irresistible. the little shoes pictured above were Dan's when he was a baby and Winston wore them in the family photos we did recently (which will be posted soon). Since our little babies feet are growing fast leaving his darling little baby shoes behind, I decided starting a baby shoe collection would be a good idea. One day I will have a long shelf with all my little baby shoes lined up neatly side by side and when you come over to visit I will show them to you and tell you the stories behind each pair and who wore them and what occasion they were for. That way the money spent on teeny shoes will not go to waste. To kick off my collection I just purchased a darling pair of antique bronzed booties on ebay. I can't wait.

cookie design home

I am dying to check this out! Events by cookie mag are sure not to disappoint.

Grandpas

Winston is a fortunate boy. Both of my grandfathers died before I was born so I never knew the joy of having a grandpa. This little guy has three, each of which spoils him rotten with attention and snuggles. How did he get so lucky?

sick day

I'm under the weather with the worst cold I have had in years, which means laying low with Winston watching reruns of project runway and making a modified pair of these baby booties for his Halloween costume and trying not to sneeze on him in the process. He's been intently watching me sew all afternoon and being an angel. I'm beginning to think he inherited my creative genes after all because he looks pretty interested in what I am doing.

the crystal ball

While in Utah I popped into some of my favorite baby haunts to see what goodies I could conjure up. I had to share these hilarious t-shirts I discovered by Wry Baby. This company sells a variety of hilarious goodies for baby. But my favorite starts with Mysterio the fortune teller, who for a mere $12.95 will predict your child's future career. We were hoping Winston would be lucky enough to grow up to be a Donut Tycoon, but it looks like we'll have to settle for him becoming a criminal mastermind, still we are so proud. The Mysterio predicts t-shirt is sold online and at Babinski's in Salt Lake. Winston is wearing his today, although our little criminal mastermind has taken a break from scheming and is currently having a nap.

blessed day

Among the whirlwind of events while we were in Utah, we got to bless dear Winston. This was such a special day for us because it was the first time that many of our family and friends had to meet our little widget (wiggly + midget = widget). He was such a good by and didn't even cry or fuss while he was passed around for three hours. He was quite the charmer!

It was so special for us to be surrounded by our friends and family on this special day to celebrate our dear boy. Of course I took way too many pictures to document the event but of course that is what I do. Poor Winston has had over 6,000 pictures of him taken since birth so I think he is getting the hang of it!
