my big boy

Winston is astounding. This child has more energy than any baby I know. He just never stops. I oscillate between loving his on the go spirit, to being severely concerned he has the most severe case of adhd ever. His smiles just melt me, and his laughs, well that is another story all together. We went to temple square to see the tulips the other day and thanks to the lovely Molly snapped a few pictures for my etsy shop  with Winsty in my party hats. I have too many pictures of Winston to post and when I try to sort through them I just get lost, so hopefully I'll get some up here soon.

I have so many "mothers" in my life that take care of me and I couldn't have gotten through life without them! Thanks to all of you, you know who you are!

let's go for a picnic

I have a new addiction and it is quickly growing. It all started a few weeks ago when I spotted a gorgeous vintage Longaberger picnic basket while thrifting. Mint condition? Gingham Lined? Sturdy Handles? $3? Yes please!

I have since discovered this is wonderful storage solution for craft projects. Easy to transport and perfect for keeping all your supplies in one place. Since this discovery I have had picnic baskets on the mind and snatched up two more. Yes I am obsessed and this ebay search is medicine.

Piper and Chloe

If you are wondering why this blog has been severely neglected, it is because I've been a very busy girl. One of the things keeping me burning the midnight oil has been preparations for Piper and Chloe, a wonderful craft show coming up May 8th and 9th. I am excited to check out all the goods this weekend.

Be sure to put this on your calendars and stay tuned for a sneak peak of all my new offerings there. I've got about 20 party hats just waiting for some love!

the sweetest thing

Dan and I have been trying to plan a trip to San Francisco for a couple of years now. Other things just keep popping up and getting in the way. I have a list of must see and must do when we visit and it is growing incredibly long.

The newest addition to that list is Crown and Crumpet. I am pretty sure an afternoon tea at this darling establishment would be every little girl's dream come true!

family fun

I am swooning over design mom's family photos taken by Candice Stringham
These little children look like they came straight out of a J. Crew photo shoot.
I especially love the cup cakes.

lots and lots

My cousin Amelia emailed me with some requests for some fresh spring cardigans. I guess it is that time of year, jackets can be a bit too much but you still need something to cover those arms when a big gust of wind pipes up.
I happen to be a huge fan of cardigans, a fact evidenced by the rainbow of them hanging in my closet. I think  the thing I love best about a little sweater is how it can elevate a t-shirt and jeans to an actual outfit and make look just a little bit more pulled together.

In no particular order, here are my favorites of the season. I searched all over, but I always come back to the basics.

Lonely Me

My beautiful wife and wonderful baby left me all alone in SLC while they flew off to Hawaii, Lonely Me.

This was Winston's first trip to the beach. when he was only a week old he got to go to the Hampton's, don't he and Cait look great for only 1 week.
I am sure they are having a blast but I can't wait to see them when they get home.

nostalgia

One of the things that I have loved most about having a child of my own is being able to relive my childhood. Dan and I are fortunate because our parents saved a lot of our old toys and clothes from when we were children and at every stage of the game so far we've been able to share little things with Winston. He has inheirited every thing from blankets, to clothes, to books, and some very special toys including a beautiful old wooden Janesville wagon. I think we need to take some pictures of him with the wagon as soon as the sunny weather decides to stick around.

laughter

I'm generally not a video blogger. I guess I'm just usually not patient enough to wait for them to load but I couldn't hold back sharing this laughter. This was taken a couple of weeks ago and I think Dan or myself has watched it at least once almost every day since. This little man seems to be full of happiness and curiosity. He lives life on fast forward all the time. He's almost walking and is climbing stairs and I just wish I could keep him this age forever, before he's big enough to run away from me!

swim season

I just wanted to clue you all in on the darling swimsuits at Down East Basics this year. These are some of the cutest (and most flattering) suits I have seen in a while, and at pretty good prices. I'm a lucky girl and Winston and I are heading to Hawaii with my family this week so I snagged the white tankini above for the trip. I just can't wait to be tan and lying on the beach!

up and away

Without further adieu I present my etsy shop, Simple & Sweet. Here you will find a collection of childhood trinkets and vintage baby clothing. I think the crown jewel are my party hats. Take a gander and let me know what you like.

ready, set, go!

We got up early this morning to brave the frigid temps to run the first annual East High 5k. I think Winston enjoyed it more than any of us since he got to be the one bundled up and people watching. And it reminded me there are few reasons worth getting up early for, and in my book, running is not one of them. Don't get me wrong, it was plenty of fun, but oh so cold!

You guessed it

So a couple of you hit the nail on the head when you guessed about my new venture, an etsy shop. I have actually had one set up for the past year but a new baby and two moves left little time for crafting. I am just putting the finishing touches on it and it should be ready to launch at the end of the week. However, since I know there are many curious cats out there I thought I would give you a little sneak peak!
